RBB Letter of gratitude to His Majesty’s Government
His Majesty's Government of the United Kingdom,
Rwanda Bridge Builders (RBB), a platform of Rwandan civil societies and opposition political parties in exile would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to his Majesty’s Government of the United Kingdom, past and present for kindly providing refuge and protecting Rwandans escaping the brutality of General Paul Kagame’s dictatorship.
As it is well documented, the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) has committed atrocities against Hutu populations before, during and after the 1994 genocide. RPF soldiers killed hundreds of thousands of Hutu people in a systematic fashion leading to approximately two million Hutu to seek refuge in neighbouring countries and far beyond with some people reaching the United Kingdom for safe haven.
RBB appreciate the British People’s hospitality and support accorded to our fellow Rwandans fleeing the RPF’s persecutions.
Today, while Rwandans living in the UK are safe with a prosperous future, their fellow countrymen in Rwanda live in constant fear under the brutal dictatorship of General Paul Kagame who rules Rwanda with an iron fist since 1994. He obtained power through military might and has used force of arm to preserve it and has spent millions of dollars meant for the poor to export his totalitarian ideology and to fund terrorists and other armed groups fighting his proxy wars in neighbouring countries especially in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
However, despite Kagame and his RPF ’s violent history and repressive actions, some powerful countries around the world have a friendly attitude towards Rwanda and some have persecuted Rwandans refugees on behalf of the Rwandan Government.
RBB is thankful to his Majesty’s Government for protecting Rwandans refugees in the United Kingdom.
Kind Regards
Ambassador Jean Marie V. Ndagijimana
